I am an award winning freelance photographer, living in Windermere, FL. My photographic interests include travel, professional motor sports, feature and portrait photography. Our family recently relocated to the Orlando area after 38 years of life in Idaho to enjoy warmer weather, the attractions, and to be near 3 of the largest motor racing event on Earth.
Prior to moving, I was heavily involved in our local community of Eagle, Idaho. There I was responsible for forming the Camera Club of Eagle, was active in city government as a volunteer, and was the principal photographer of an area lifestyle Magazine called EM. Below outlines some of my activities.
Camera Club of Eagle
I enjoy sharing my passion for photography with others, which led me to form the Camera Club of Eagle in 2008.
The club was designed to provide an educational environment along with a social component that has resulted in a great club experience. With over 60 members, the club meets twice monthly and places emphasis on education and group events. They hold several club photography events per year, as well as social events such as a Christmas party and Summer barbecue. www.eaglecameraclub.com
Eagle Fire Burnout Fund Calendar
In 2008 the Eagle Fire Department approached me with the idea of creating a calendar as a fundraiser for the Eagle Fire Burnout Fund. In 2009 the first Eagle Fire Fighter Calendar was released, featuring 12 of Eagle's finest firefighters. The calendar raised several thousand dollars for the fund and a new tradition was started. We did it again in 2010. I was thrilled to be a part of the effort and hopes the tradition will continue for years to come!
I have a portfolio of magazine photo work that includes over 4 years as the principle photographer for lifestyle magazine Eagle Magazine. I stepped in as the primary photographer in 2004 and helped build this high end lifestyle magazine. I provided most cover photography as well as nearly all of the feature photography. In 2006 I started producing photos for Meridian in the Middle magazine, a sister publication of Eagle Magazine. I left the post in 2008 to pursue various civic roles in Eagle. In 2010 I traveled to the beautiful rolling hills of Eastern Oregon to do a photo shoot that was featured in Sporting Classic's magazine.
In 2005 I landed the cover shot of one of the largest ATV racing magazines in the United States. ATV Sport chose my dramatic photograph of off-road racing champion Doug Eichner as their cover for their March 2005 issue. ATV Sport also placed several of my photos with their coverage of the WORCS Off Road Series event that took place in Payette, Idaho. My images have also appeared in Bike Magazine as well as Men's Health Journal magazine.
Indy Car Racing - 2011: I photographed the Long Beach Grand Prix for the LBGP Association.
Champ Car Racing - 2003-2007: In 2003 I began shooting the intense high speed world of professional open wheel racing. A lifelong passion, motor racing is one of my favorite subjects. In this time frame I shot occasional events for world wide motor sports photo agency LAT Photography USA.
I was actively involved as a volunteer in Eagle, Idaho, where I served on the Board of Directors for the Eagle Chamber of Commerce and served as Co-Chair of the Eagle City Hall Task Force, a committee put together by the city government to identify cost solutions for the City of Eagle. I served as a strategic adviser to Mayoral Candidate James Reynolds who was elected Mayor of Eagle in 2011.
One of my proudest accomplishments was developing a successful recycling program implemented with Eagle's largest public event "Eagle Fun Days" which draws yearly crowds of over 20,000 people. Over the past four years, my volunteers and I collected nearly 100 cubic yards of plastic bottles and cups, saving this material from sitting in a landfill. In June of 2011, I was awarded the Key to the City of Eagle in recognition of my volunteer work and my founding of the community camera club. I am father to Alex and Anna, and husband to Jen.
